Darren, grip certainly plays a big part in the car being more consistent, also. Smaller diameter tyres sharpen up the handling. That said, you still need the right gearing/rollout.

Personally I think blinky is the worst possible direction we as racers could take, but it's moving that way, so I'll have to make the most of it.

One issue I see now is that there may be one combination that's faster than the others, rather than the healthy mix of speedo/motor combinations we're used to with dynamic timing speedo setups. Another issue is the speedo's themselves and the software on them... "blinky" can be bypassed easily.

Blinky should make for some close racing.

I would think most people are honest enough not to cheat. Personally I prefer running with boost but I felt it was the right thing to do and follow the BRCA. Plus I would think anyone running in the BRCA winter series would be looking for practice.

Hi Terry, yep understand that, thanks, I was wondering if i could argue that tim's fastest time may have been in the final as the grip was up and his car was easier to drive with more grip rather than optimum gearing.

As you can tell the gearing is worrying me a little, wanna get it right ;)

Chris, can it really be bypassed easily? Did I hear something about manuf being told that their blinky mode had not to be able to be bypassed and must be the same for all their speedos (no fast team speedos) or their equipment would not be allowed at meetings with a potential 5 year ban, or was that abroad.

Tim, agree, hopefully the wk 12th scene will be honest and close.

Personally I don't like stock racing as it is so equipment of the moment reliant, mod was what you could handle with the ability to always do something to get more power if needed ;)

Also personally I might not have decided to follow the brca if the attending racers weren't suggesting it, although as it is probably half the 12th attendance this winter would prefer blinky as they do nationals.

Hi Darren, I wouldn't worry too much about getting the gearing right, most people will take advise before hand, and I'm sure will gear on the conservative side initially and work from there. If you temp the motor after a couple of minutes, I can't see it being any more of a problem than running speedo's with advanced timing. I have seen guys blow motors and speedo's when using advanced timing trying to get more and more out of it, so what's different? I think the biggest factor will be 'the right battery' so nothing new again, everything is the same, just slower!

I totally agree with Tim in that it will make for some close racing, there should certainly be less crashing, less damage and less cost, which for many, will put smiles back on faces. And, again, I agree with Tim in that I dont think people will cheat, their problem if they do, and if they do, I should think the speed on the straight would give the game away :D

Chris, after you explained to me how easy it would be for people to cheat, I can easily see now how if can be done, but as I said above, I really cant see many trying. I hope it will help us consentrate more on perfecting our lines and consistency, as that will be what wins races. Should be good for you then mate, Mr. Consistent :)

Will there be any pre-pay offers on the table, I'm sure someone like TimH would love to swell your coffers so he doesn't have to remember his wallet each meeting... lol
