Visitors to Sun 18th October

Hello

I spoke to Ian a couple of weeks ago as I am keen to bring my 11 year old son Alexander along to a meeting and hopefully get him into it just as I did back in the 1980's when it was on the grass track at the Pagoda in Southborough (as you can see by the very old kit in my profile!). You never know, I may even get the urge to get back on the track myself!

Alexander has had a 1/10 off roader for the past year and races it out in the road etc.. but there is no-one to race with so he'd love to come to the club. We were thinking of coming along on Sunday 18th October which I see is the first of the Winter Series so will probably be a bit busy - but would that be OK though? If the club mini was available too then I'm sure he'd like to have a go round the track.

As we would be visitors then what times would be best to arrive please so we don't get in anyone's way (I'm happy to help setup though in any way) and what time does it all finish at?

Many thanks and hopefully see you on Sunday.

Cheers

Gary

Not a member of the team so can't comment on the club Mini but new drivers always welcome. Racing starts around 9am so I would turn up by half 8 if there is a chance you can use it. There is ~5mins of practise per class, 3 qualifying rounds then a final. Depending on how many turn up it is normally done by 1pm ish

There is a buggy club in St Leonards who race Sunday nights ~5pm till 9ish, might be a bit late for him? Their next meeting is also the 18th, a few youngsters go to that as well. The Minis at WK are an excellent class to start with though and you can normally pick up a cheap complete 2nd hand one off ebay etc

As Darren says, rock up any time after 9am and you should see practice underway with qualifying heats starting around 9:30am. If you contact Ian (http://www.wkrcc.co.uk/club-info/contact/) he can make sure the club Mini is available to take out in practice. Probably best if you do that during the lull between qualifying and the finals, which is roughly around 11:30am (depending on number of heats).

Mini is definitely the best place to start as it is the perfect introduction to racing on carpet and relatively inexpensive. You're welcome to stay and watch during the whole day to be honest - gives you a good chance to have a look at how the club and the racing has evolved :)

Regards,

Dan

I didn't manage to get over today - my wife had an operation on Friday and I couldn't leave her - so I hope to come along to one of the next 2 instead!

Cheers

Hi Gary,

Sorry you couldn't make it.

There is no club meeting in two weeks time as we are running a 1/12th scale BRCA national meeting on Saturday (31st) and Sunday(1st). Of course you are more than welcome to come along and watch although it will only be LMP 1/12th that are running.

The next club meeting is on November 15th.

Regards
Brian

Hi Brian - thanks for the info as the 1st November was looking likely - so I'll endeavour to make the 15th instead.

Sounds like this coming weekend will be busy with 2 days of racing - enjoy!

Regards

Gary
