Extra Class for the Winter Series

Postby Brian Mills » Sat Oct 18, 2008 10:06 am

At the committee meeting yesterday it was decided that we ought to canvass opinion to see what extra class would bring a reasonable level of support if we ran it. The plan is that we MAY POSSIBLY be able to run an extra class depending on how bookings go for 1/10th touring. The options discussed were either 1/12th or minis.
If you would like to support one of them then add your name to this thread and say which class.
At the moment this is only to gauge support. It may be that it will be an "on the day" decision to have a heat of another class if there is room due to no-shows.
Thanks
Brian

Minis, and run to Tamiya Cup Rules.

... just ordered mine ;)

May I also add, whatever we decide; the option needs to be there where the class can be carried over into the summer championship. Also Mini's are nice and cheap and will hopefully entice new members who can't afford to spend £300+ on getting set up. Especially in the current climate.

I vote 1/12th, especially as I'm not running TC's this winter to concentrate on 1/12th.

One thing to bare in mind, if you have drivers running 2 classes, that means they have to get 2 cars ready, race two heats and marshall 2 races, it could be a struggle. To avid this issue at Sidcup, we only allow 1 class ans it's working well.

Good luck

The point I made at last nights committee meeting was that we would position the extra class heat and final where it would cause the least number of clashes for marshalling. That would be decided on a meeting by meeting basis in the same way that running the extra class would be.

Dan

I understand about positioning the 'other' heat, but what if you get drivers from, say 4 different heats wanted to run in the extra class, how would you cope with that?

And, if I understand you correctly, your going to put the extra class in on a meeting by meeting basis, so nobody will know untill the day of the meeting if the extra class will be run, wont you need to give people notice that it will, or wont be run. Not trying to be awkward, just playing devils advocate.
