i dont think the dirt problem will be as bad as you think dave, admittedly the first couple of outdoor meetings will be dusty but once the suface has been swept it should be ok, plus at the price and availability of these ansmann motors they dont need to last and you can tape up the bottom hole like shaun says and should stop a lot of ingress (i am thinking of making inner wheelarches for these shells for outdoors too to help stop dirt issues

After a committee meeting today the following limits for mini's outdoors were agreed by a majority:-

1. Must be a Tamiya Mini.
2. Black or silver can only.
3. Any MINI tyre on a 42mm rim can be used.
4. No double inserts permitted.
5. There will be a £50 (retail) limit on speedos.
6. Brushless is not permitted.

Thanks
Brian

OK Stuart.
I'm thinking that perhaps the club could buy a black can or two, to sell to members who want one "on the day" as it were.

i think that would be a good idea good for new members and for the unfortunate who either didnt get one delivered in time or had a failure, could save a racer from having a wasted days racing

anyone know the RRP on the tamiya teu302bk?

why not go for the standard kit item?
It's a little large but perfectly adequate for the job.

I am currently doing our own set of rules which will be downloadable from the website in the next few days.

a quick update for you all on tyres.
The HPI X-pattern's have amazing grip but; and it's a big one.... the total diameter is a good bit smaller than the Tamiya tyre and you loose a lot of top end down the straight.
An excellent wet weather tyre though ;)

Simond tried the Ansmannn alternative but the rim proved a little brittle to say the least.
If the tyre can be removed and re-mounted onto a better rim things could change but again the diameter is smaer and we'll see the same problem a the HPI.

I have used worn M-Grips for the last 3 meetings at Eastbourne now. Bearing in mind there is a great deal of hard cornering, they are just showing signs of wearing through.
S-grips are all the rage down there; mainly because they wear better and hence last longer.
Hope that helps.
