Practice

Postby Tim Fry » Sun Oct 25, 2009 7:04 pm

Well it didn't go too bad today. The grip really came up for heat 3 and the final. Shame the tape went pants in a couple of places it cost me bad in the final.

The only thing I will say is there was no help packing away at end. I understand people want to get home but some help moving the tracking to the door would be helpful we would like to go home too ;)

Cracking Track really nice to drive.
Have to agree need more help putting the track away the more that help the quicker it gets done. Perhaps we should run the racing differently so that the final event is the Touring Cars A Final that way we should have the maximum number of people still around to help clear up.
Did notice a couple of things though Driver gradings for the Tourers need a serious look at there were some rather odd positionings in the heats ie guys who should have been in the top heat is the middle heat and vice versa. Also the speakers for the PA system need to move some of the guys pitting in the changing rooms cannot hear what is going on be nice to sort that out for round 1. :D

Yep good practice given the circumstances had a good but tiring day with all the getting out and packing away. Would be nice if the slower drivers let the faster ones through as that cost me badly in my final and also if some marshals woke up a bit. Other than that a good fun day :D

Enjoyed practise meeting even through was put in race one (couldn’t get the extra laps trying drive round back markers, but that’s racing and my excuse)
I have to say sorry for not helping to pack away. Did a few hop, skips, and jumps marshalling the A final, now flat on my back waiting to see the osteopath. Felt guilty leaving early with the other lazy people, like rats leaving a sinking ship. :?
Promise in future I will try to do my bit

Must admit, I did feel guilty leaving early, and like Ben, I had a good excuse, it was my Dad's birthday and I had an hour to get home, showered and out for a family meal. Sorry guys, I will try and make sure in future that I do my bit to help.

Great meeting by the way, see you soon.

I thought the idea of running separate practice sessions for the different classes was a good one. It showed that each class could have the chance to run without having to dodge cars of different speed capabilities allowing the drivers of each class to concentrate on set-up, and it could reduce the chance of impact damage between cars of different speed capabilities/weight. I think it should be implemented at all future rounds but to be effectively run, the practice periods need to be published at the start of each meeting.
