Round 2 - Winter

Postby Shawn Herrington » Sat Nov 14, 2009 5:42 pm

Ok a little premature but we would like to bring your attention to a couple of things that will be in place for the rest of the Championship.

CLASS PRACTISE

This was hastily put together at the practise meeting because of both the number of cars on track and the speed differential between the 3 classes being raced.
After a few heavy incidents the Touring Cars, Mini's and GT'S each now get their own sessions which will last approximatly 5 minutes. This will be the running order on the day but is subject to change so please listen to any announcements coming from Race Control.
Practice sessions will continue to rotate until Race Control are ready to start racing.

Once the track is open stick to class session and if you inadvertantly find yourself in the wrong one please leave the track as soon as anyone points it out to you.

Also please be aware of slower traffic in your practise session because naturaly there will be a mixture of abilities on track with you.

Importantly be curtious to other drivers around you. We have had several disappointed youngsters so far this year who have been getting damage before even getting to race and feel as though they are being bullied out of the way.
Ironically it's these youngsters that need the practise, can't afford the repair bill and really could do with having a car in one piece.

You have to admit it does work quite well but there have been a couple of instances where the wrong type of car has been on track at he wrong time, but I expect that is down to the lack of advertising of this new procedure.

STOP/GO PENALTIES

This is something the club is probably one of the last to implement and speaks for itself.
If anyones driving is deemed to be a little too robust, bordering on dirty there is a chance Race Control will issue you a Stop/Go penalty.

All positive.

The split practise is a definate benefit to all classes and should make it smoother for everyone. I cant imagine a superstar TC driver is overjoyed to pull through a tight bend to find a mini scrabbling for traction at half the speed.

It is the first time that some drivers have ever driven on carpet so they are finding their feet. I'm know that the WK guys have a lot to offer and it is appreciated when they have time to offer assistance. It was my first year last season, and WK inspired me to move fromt he oval to the curcuit, so something good is happening here.

As an aside, if any of the WK or guest drivers would like to visit Eastbourne, we'd be delighted to see you.

Looking at the entry list for us ickle mini racers makes me think we are going to need a bigger rostrum.

Even without Handthingy listed it's a mighty fine list of names there

It's gonna be close up front... :D

Actually no; do carnage and get a Stop/Go. Then I assuming I'm already in front I can storm off and take the win :D
