The late Mr. Steve Hamblin.

Postby Brian Mills » Thu Feb 26, 2015 10:16 pm

Dear All,

It is with the most profound sadness that I have to tell you that Steve Hamblin, our long serving Scrutineer and valued member of the Race Control team, passed away peacefully this afternoon at the age of just 65. I can only say that this is not only a great loss to the club, it is also a great personal loss to Ian and I, who saw Steve as a mate of ours - more than just someone who turned up every other Sunday. The club owes him a great deal. We offer our heartfelt condolences to Steve's widow and to his son Dan. I'm sure out thoughts are with them and the wider family at this time.

RIP Steve.

I read this earlier and didn't know what to say, still don't....... shocked! I have known Steve from the time I started racing and can honestly say that he was one of the nicest blokes I have ever met, completely selfless and always smiling. My heart felt condolences to Steve's family, I can't begin to imagine how Dan is feeling, so sorry for your loss.

Rest in peace Steve.

This is a terrible loss Steve was a top guy the kind that anyone who runs a club would love to have on the team, he will be much missed by all he knew him. I never saw him without a smile on no matter how busy or stressful things were.
My deepest condolences to Dan and his family

Rest in Peace Steve

This is indeed sad news.
This toy car racing we do as many characters. Look around any club and you will see them. Steve was one of them.
I never saw him without a smile on his face. An always willing helper and a Gentelman.
An all round "Nice Bloke".
I will miss him and so will West Kent. My hart goes out to Dan and the Hamblin family.
"Rest in peace Steve"
Andy.

Dear All,

The details for Steve's funeral have now been released.
If you would like to attend please could you e-mail me at brian@wkrcc.co.uk for details.
It would help Dan and his Mum greatly to know how many plan to attend this and the reception that will follow.

Those of you that were present today, and took part in the minutes silence, will be acutely aware that it was a most painful experience for both Ian and I.
Because I don't feel that we were able to do full justice to Steve and his contribution to the club, a full tribute will appear here a little later.

Regards
Brian
