Slightly off subject, but do you guys think you might be running 1/12th over the winter?

hello Terry.
There was a fair amount of interest in the Mini's at the practise meeting and I assume they will go from strength to strength over the coming weeks plus we right up to the time limit once we were all packed away.
Unfortunatly I don't see there being enough time in the morning to be able to run a third class.

Terry I would also love to see a 12th class. Have you got any idea who else would like to do it?

Terry - we did ask for names (I know you put yours down!) but I think we got 3 or 4. Ideally of course it would be nice to run a heats of 1/10th, 1/12th and minis but a lot would depend on interest I think. Lets see if we get some idea of how much interest there would be - perhaps those interested could post here. Could we combine the two or is the speed differential just too much??

Of couse there is one option ......and that is go back to 4 minute races. Not sure how popular that would be though.

The nuts and bolts of our current set up are:-
Racing ----- 6 heats X 4 rounds X 5 minutes = 120 minutes
Race gaps-- 6 heats X 4 rounds X 2 minutes = 48 minutes

Total = 168 minutes

The set up with 4 minute heats would be:-
Racing------7 heats X 4 rounds X 4 minutes = 112 minutes
Race gaps--7 heats X 4 rounds X 2 minutes = 56 minutes

Total = 168 minutes

It's just a thought............

Brian

There is another way to look at it. This year it's been difficult to get 60 drivers, even last year there was sometimes only 5 rounds. How about splitting the 60 available places. 40 for TC's, 10 for Mini's and 10 for 1/12th. I think for this winter it's too late now due to the entries you already have, although the no-show's often bring the numbers down anyway, but food for thought next winter perhaps.

I'm not so sure that reducing the rounds to 4 minutes is a good idea, us racers dont think 5 minutes is enough these days, especially with Lipo power :lol: but thanks for the effort.

I couldn't really say how many you would get, but 1/12th is gaining in popularity, the only thing that puts people off is the lack of places to race. If you promoted it early enough, I wouldn't mind betting you would have a reserve list before your 1/10th class's were to fill :D

As you know, to give myself a chance to learn 1/12th I'm not racing 1/10th this winter, I've even sold mine :o but that's only because I'm loving racing 1/12th so much, the speed through the corners is amazing, to give you an idea, the single fastest lap around Maritime is held by the current BRCA National Pro-Stock Champion, I'm faster than that by over .3 of a second after only my second run with a 1/12th, it equates to approximately 2-3 seconds faster than my 1/10th time, so, 1/12th is very easy to get hooked on. And, as an added bonus, it's much cheaper than 1/10th.

I would love to see 1/12th at West Kent but can see that this year it might not be possible. How about running them outside in the summer, they do it all the time in the States so it must work, more food for thought......

That's alright - I've found a replacement ;)

He's also got a spare car or two which means I should make it through the day :)

Dan
