Mini class chat

Liked how the mini class kicked off at the practice meeting. The M03 M/L Swift's seemed to handle better than the short wheel-base M03s. Did anyone notice what chassis the little stock starlet was running? It was really quick and gripped well. We'll be running a M03 with a few mods this Sunday, see how it fares. Has anyone tried the Manta Ray or TA03 ball diff yet? If so What's it like?

It was a home made car based on a Mardave V12.

Hi.
The medium length chassis does appear to be more user friendly than the short wheelbase, even if mine was on it's roof most of the time. Hopefully that was just teething problems with the back to basics servo saver; and now I have read the manual properly and made the necessary adjustments I hope this week will be better :roll:

The construction rules we are following at the moment don't allow for any other diffs except the kit version.
We are using the rules Eastbourne have put together and they will be published on this website in the near future.

The idea of the class is for bog standard cars with the driving skill giving the results rather than who has the deepest wallet. Oh yeah and fun - and rest assured there is plenty of that :D

I tried the S grip tyres in the first and second round and found they had too much grip so it kept rolling over. I switched to a set of worn (bald) tyres that came with the kit (D grip I think) and the car was awesome - full throttle everywhere on the track. I tried using additive on the tyres in the final, but that provided too much grip and the roll problem came back.

Dan, don't bother with the ball diff, the people that I know who run them have had problems with them overheating. Because all the drive goes through the front wheels they take too much abuse and their lifespan becomes limited at best.

The other key ingredient to a good car is smiling and laughing as you get caught up in traffic because it is anyone's guess who comes out of it on all 4 wheels. :D :D

Yes,and also very important when mini racing,is a bit of banter on the rostrum!! :D .....really enjoyed last week....the minis are great fun,and i think a class that will grow judging by other clubs running them......i mean while racing last week,i even slowed down to let andy catch up so we could have a bit of a battle!!! :D :D ..great stuff......you dont see that often!! :D :D :D

I propose to offer a discount to Mini drivers in exactly the same way as 1/10th. That is:-

Visitors (running only Mini's)
Either pay £7 on the day per meeting or
Pay up front for the "9 for 11" rate of £63
If you raced as a visitor at the last meeting and payed £7 then you only need to pay £56 now to cover all the remaining meetings.

Members
Either pay an extra £3 on the day per meeting to run Mini's as an extra class or
Pay up front for the "9 for 11" rate of £27
If you raced last meeting and payed £3 then you need only pay £24 now to cover all the remaining meetings.

If anyone wants to take advantage of the discount please pay tomorrow by cash or cheque.

Please bear in mind that we are limited to one heat (10 cars) and it is only fair to give priority to drivers that have pre-paid although obviously we will always do our best to fit everyone in.

After a couple of changes that I have made, my mini will hopefully spend more time on its wheels rather than having dramatic rolls like last week........great fun all the same :D

and work it did Dan.... just not as fast as mine :twisted:

I can't work out why I stopped when the rear camber link fell off though. Reckon I could have dragged her over the line to a maiden 3 wheeler win.

How many cars can be started in one hit Brian? There will be a pt in my car next time out so does that mean we have capacity for 11 (assuming all the others run handouts).
The more pt's fitted means more starters?
